Johnny's Harborside Puts the Heart in Education

Johnny's Harborside

Thanks to Johnny’s Harborside for raising $4,365 in support of Put Your Heart In It! – an education intervention pilot program created specifically for Boys and Girls Clubs by the Institute of HeartMath.

“Kids today are exposed on a daily basis to a huge amount of real and/or imaginary violence, constant media exposure, peer pressure and lots of other stressors that impact their ability to focus, learn and interact with others.  As a mother of two grown boys, I know first-hand how hard it can be for kids to direct and regulate their emotions so they can be successful socially and academically,” says Sheri Moise, co-owner, Johnny’s Harborside.

The Put Your Heart In It! pilot program will help Boys & Girls Club of Santa Cruz Club members learn to better regulate their thoughts, emotions and behaviors through the use of fun and simple age-appropriate strategies and techniques.  A new and exciting multimedia teaching tool, Whiteboard Animation, will be used as the primary way to deliver content along with experiential games, peer mentoring, interactive exercises and use of the emWave technology.

Put Your Heart In It! fundraiser was supported with contributions from the Johnny’s Harborside  Cannonball-Astrolaube Wine Dinner on November 7, 2013 and through daily sales of Cannonball and Astrolabe wine September 20th – December 31st, 2013.
